Eating at the Mercure:

As you can see from the above, the Mercure Hotel, Frankfurt Airport, Dreieich has some interesting items on the menu! I opted for the safe pasta with tomato sauce which I would give a tasteless 4/10. The night before I went to the traditional German restaurant with a nice beer garden (leave hotel, turn right at the road and walk five minutes) and had a very enjoyable meal, however when I am dinning alone I tend to just eat at the hotel.

The service was friendly but slow, the waiter would disappear for what felt like forever, but in reality was only probably about 5 mins. I had time to pop up to my room on the third floor, get my phone and return to my table to take photos of the menu and still the waiter hadn't appeared. In the waiter's defense I don't think there was enough work to keep him busy in the restaurant and he had other chores to carry.

Mercure: Frankfurt Airport: Dreieich

I did not enjoy my flight from Glasgow on Flybe (which stopped at Southampton), it was hot and noisy; I also had an argument with the taxi driver who drove me from the airport and did not arrive at the hotel feeling my best. It was music to my ears when the very nice young man at check in informed me I had an upgrade. He was joking either. This was a serious upgrade, the square footage of my ‘room’ is larger than my boyfriends flat. OK so the accommodation could do with an re-fresh (Monet pictures on the wall, cheap wood effect furniture) but it doesn’t detract from the fact that I have a large sitting room with a very comfortable sofa, two balconies, a bathroom with a bath (very uncommon these days) and a huge super king size bed, robe and slippers. Even the toiletries supplied are of a high standard which along with the usual guff includes a bath bomb. I also earn points through the A Club rewards scheme. I will upload film of the room when I return home.
Only downsides – TV only has the news in an English language and the awful brown towels.
